Many of our safari trips are custom planned and we take a great deal of pride in creating a perfect trip for you--

An African Safari Trip of your dreams,
and
Then, we make it better than you expected.

To start the planning for your custom trip we need your input on what your dream Safari Trip looks like in your mind. The more information you give us the better. Among the things we need to know are:

How much time do you have?
What time of the year can you come?
Do you want to stay in tent camps or permanent lodges?
Do you have a priority on seeing certain animals?
What is the general age group of your party?
Are there children in your party?
Have you traveled abroad previously?
Do you have special dietary needs?
Do you have any medical conditions of concern?
Do you want to include cultural activities?
Do you want to visit Zanzibar?
Are you interested in climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro?

As you collect your thoughts to share with us in the planning of your trip here are some points to keep in mind:

The best air service to Arusha is via KLM, with a daily flight from Amsterdam. The flight gets in late at night and we will arrange for lodging in Arusha for you that first night.

Conversly, your departure will be late at night, and we will have a day room at an Arusha hotel for you to use your last day before we take you to the airport.

Getting around in Tanzania is an adventure in itself. We have a very limited amount of paved roads in our country, so the majority of your trip will be on dirt roads, which becomes a part of your safari adventure.

The arrangements for riding and viewing during your game drives are important. We use custom made four wheel drive Rovers with two roof hatches. The most ideal configuration is to have 4 people per vehicle--(two per roof hatch). This gives you better game viewing and easier photographery. Your game viewing is a big part of what you come to Africa for and you want to be set up properly to get the most out of your game drives.

For safaris in northern Tanzania, you often start in the Tarangire, a park were you can make a choice from one of our own tented camps or a game lodge. Your second stop is often the Ngorongoro Crater, where all visitors must stay in game lodges. In the Serengeti you can again choose from tented camps or game lodges.

For safaris to southern Tanzania, we can either start them in Dar es Salaam, a historical trading town on the Indian Ocean, or we can arrange for a charter air flight south from Arusha. These trips are more remote and work best for somewhat longer safaris when you are interested in visiting the Selous or Ruaha areas. To get a Custom Safari Trip started, send us an e-mail, or phone us with your ideas and thoughts, and we will put together a safari proposal for your consideration.

This is one of the reasons it is important to have good four wheel drive vehicles, rather than vans. Some of the adventure we can offer you is nosing about, off the roads in some places, as we scout for game, or to visit native villages.

Depending on how many days you have and how many parks you wish to visit, one option you may wish to consider is to work your way out to your most remote location, and then have us arrange for a charter flight to bring you back to Arusha.

You are invited to come for your African Safari in any size group, but groups of 6 to 16 are your best value. Smaller groups are welcome, but the cost per person per day is higher.
