Private Mobile Camping
Everyone is looking for a "Unique" experience in the bush. Unique Safaris is reknown for their private mobile camping facilities, exceling in service, food, equipment and locations. Unique specializes in combining private mobile camping with other types of accommodations on safari. Depending upon your particular interests, you may choose to spend anywhere from two to ten nights in privacy, away from other tourists and enjoying an intimacy with wildlife that is unsurpassed. Clients have seen some wonderful wildlife simply by sitting in front of their tents. The ability to leave the camp just before sunrise and not have another safari vehicle around is often treasured by our clients.
A mobile camp is a temporary canvas tented camp that is set up exclusively for your private booking and located as close to the herds as possible. It does not move each day, but the private campsite is selected carefully for the best location and the most scenic views. We arrange private campsites inside any of the
national parks and Ngorongoro Conservation Land. Each mobile camp has private sleeping tents and a separate dining tent. A full bar is set up for each private camp. Beverages are included in the cost of accomodations, including local beer, house wines and non-speciality spirits. Our specially trained cooks prepare meals on a charcoal fire or dutch oven and the food at your private camp is often the best on the safari. The last night of the mobile camp, the cook prepares a traditional African meal under the stars and your driver guide(s) join you to enjoy a local meal and talk about the food and traditions of Tanzania.
Furniture inside the tents consist of queen or twin beds with a full mattress, nightstands, vanity, clothes rack, flashlight and solar lamps. Each camp has a generator to provide electricity during the day for operating the camp and electricity can be arranged inside the sleeping tents for large groups. Generators are turned off when the clients return so that the sounds of the bush can be appreciated.
Each large tent is made of heavy duty canvas with screens and ample ventilation. Tents are ensuite, with a chemical semiflush toilet, a bucket shower and a separate vanity or dressing area. Linens, towels and robes are provided in each tent. Laundry is complimentary.
Unique Safaris also offers a lower priced camping experience, called Classic Style. The tents are smaller and have a separate toilet and shower facilities set up behind the tents. The tents are tall enough to allow you to stand up and there is a separate dining tent and campfire at night. Beverages and laundry are not included in the price of accommodations and meals are still excellent, but more simple than the luxury mobile camp.
Lemuta Hills Shared Camp
Unique Safaris provides a very special shared campsite located on the border between the eastern Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Land, near Nasera Rock. The camp is open December 1-April 30, a prime time for the migration of the wildebeest through the Salei Plains, the Gol Mountains and the short-grass plains. The camp consists of private sleeping tents and a large canvas dining room, bar and lounge. We have been very fortunate to be able to find wild dogs in this area at this time of the year as well.
