And Ruaha is one of the few places in East Africa where some of the rarer species, like the sable and roan antelope, can be seen. In addition, greater kudu are also common in the park

Planning a Southern circuit safari

Safaris in Tanzania generally are built around what we call the northern circuit or the southern circuit. The southern circuit includes the Ruaha, the Selous and the Mekumi.

A safari to the south is an excellent itinerary for a second trip to Tanzania, or for a group that has already taken adventure trips elsewhere. This is a more rugged isolated safari area than the northern parks of our country, and is a fun trip for those looking for more adventure.

There are a couple of ways to plan a trip south. You can fly directly into Dar es Salaam and then you can visit the huge Selous and Ruaha parks, before flying back to Arusha.

A second option is to visit some of the northern parks first and then we could arrange to fly you south to the Ruaha for several days.

When visiting the Ruaha you can choose from one of our mobile tent camps or from a permanent game lodge.

A safari to the Ruaha needs enough time to be done properly, so you will want to thing of a 10-18 day safari trip in total (which includes enough time to visit a couple of other game parks also).
