The elephants of Tarangire are the most notable, and the biggest of mammals found here. Herds sometimes numbering in the hundreds are seen often. And the backdrop of ancient forests gives a primeval feeling to the experience.

The Tarangire has rolling hills with mixed species of trees, laced with year-around rivers, so the game is here all the time. There is a nice mix of animals to see--from the herds of elephants to the cats, to the birds, to the zebra and wildebeest, to the flowers, and yes - even a few rock python snakes.

The bird life is abundant and such species as the crowned crane, considered by many to be Africa's most beautiful bird, are seen in wetland areas along the Tarangire River.

The Tarangire is a comfortable start to your safari. It is a good first chapter to your African adventure, and it whets your appetite for what is to come in the following days--most likely some time at the Ngorongoro Crater and out on the Serengeti.

The Tarangire is often the first game park you visit on your safari, as it is only a 2 hour drive from Arusha.

You have three choices of accommodations in this park- our deluxe mobile tent camps, a permanent tented camp or a game lodge.

One of the advantages we bring to you with our mobile tent camps is that we can select a site location that is close to the game, at the time of the year that you choose your safari.

Secondly, you will be the only guests in our camp, so everything is scheduled as you wish it.

The landscape of Tarangire is like no other. Giant, ancient baobab trees dominate the land and give the visitor a feeling of stepping back in time to the Jurassic Age.
