Joining with others on a Scheduled Trip Tanzanian Parks |
The Tarangire is a land of mixed acacia/baobab woodlands, with yeararound water . While the game moves around within the park, depending on the where the water is, we can always find elephants, giraffes, many species of the deer family, and lots more. This park is a great "first stop" on your safari. You may choose from tented camps to game lodges, and there is a nice variety of animals, the dirt roads are fairly easy to get around on, and you can get here your first day after leaving Arusha. The Tarangire is an appropriate start to your initiation into a safari in East Africa. It gets you started with lots of game viewing in terrain and on roads that begin your adventure. After you have digested that level you will be ready for the bigger adventures to come out on the Sarengeti, where the roads are rougher and everything is a bit wilder. |
The elephants of Tarangire are the most notable - and the biggest - of mammals found here. Herds sometimes numbering in the hundreds are seen often. And the backdrop of ancient forests gives a primeval feeling to the experience. The bird life is abundant and such species as the crowned crane, considered by many to be Africa's most beautiful bird, are seen in wetland areas along the Tarangire River.
